from amsterdam to ivory coast

December 2018 - April 2019

On Christmas eve I bought my first car in Amsterdam, a little 2004 Opel Combo we named Kirikou. Kirikou would be our home for the next 4 months as we embarked on an ambitious road trip towards Africa. In April 2019, I finally made it to Ivory Coast, my final destination after a total of 12 countries, 16 710km and 22 flat tires.

We drove through everything from the mountains of Morocco, the desert of Mauritania, the beaches of The Gambia and the jungle of Guinea. All I can say is that Africa is not as scary as it seems. People here have been extremely welcoming and I think we have a lot to learn from them.

I'll be putting together a series of short videos documenting the adventure coming soon.

Netherlands, Belgium, France, Spain, Gibraltar, Morocco, Western Sahara, Mauritania, Senegal, The Gambia, Guinea-Bissau, Guinea, Côte-d’Ivoire
